Helle Viking Fixed Blade Knife
The Helle No. 62 Viking is the contemporary version of the timeless Norwegian knife used for centuries by adventurous Norseman. It is rustic, strong and basic. Made of laminated carbon steel, the Viking has an uncommonly thick blade of 0.145 inches, and the black treatment from the heat finish is left remaining. The creates the appearance of an antique knife, albeit one that offers exceptional performance. A thin coating of grease is on the blade to prevent rust until purchased.
The tang of the blade is peened over a diamond shaped washer. The handle is subtly shaped for comfort and control with a variety of grips. It comes with the traditional sheath that hangs from a thong. The Viking is a revision of a Helle classic that was produced as part of a fund-raiser for an around- the-world- cruise of a Viking longship. The knife is notable not only for it’s historical interest, but also as an excellent all around utility knife.
Dry the handle with a soft cloth if wet and wax occasionally.
The leather needs to be impregnated occasionally with colorless impregnation agent (grease or wax) to keep supple. Dry the sheath carefully at room temperature if it becomes wet.
Wipe the blade with a soft cloth if wet and treat with grease occasionally.
