The Swat-T Tourniquet offers incremental pressure, allowing it to be used as a pressure dressing or a tourniquet, as the situation demands. Designed as a hemorrhagic control device, the Swat Tourniquet uses a simple strategy of Stretch, Wrap And Tuck (SWAT). Printed symbols offer visual indication of the degree of pressure/occlusion.
For maximum occlusion, place the device on an extremity and stretch while watching the indicators. When the printed ovals turn into circles and the diamonds into squares, the device is acting as a tourniquet. When used as a pressure bandage with a sterile dressing, make sure the printed ovals and diamonds maintain most of their original geometry. In addition the Swat-T can be used as an elastic bandage to help stabilize a sprain, keep a cold compress in place, or apply mild pressure across the chest or abdomen.
